“Sapiens” is a series of bronze sculptures of a head that encapsulates the timeless essence of humanity. The work delves into the intricate tapestry of human existence, emphasising that despite the ever-evolving world around us, our core human nature remains unwavering. It serves as a symbol of unity — the idea that, although we are vastly different in many ways, we are fundamentally the same at our core. “Sapiens” celebrates the diverse experiences of humanity throughout history and across contexts.

“Sapiens” is characterised by a unique combination of artistic generations, which was the main goal of the project’s creative director Bogdan Kryvosheya. It pays homage to the past by honouring older artists: Vlad Volosenko sculpted the head. At the same time it embraces the creativity of the younger generation: Roman Shcherbakov added the symbolic “tattoos” on the left side of the sculpture. They signify the harmonious coexistence of tradition and innovation, reminding us that the wisdom of the past and the vision of the future can enrich our collective human narrative. In essence, “Sapiens” is a testament to the enduring power of art to bridge generational gaps, highlighting our shared humanity while honouring our diverse individual experiences.
